Inca Trail, January, 1994.

The fifteenth video tape is about the Inca Trail hike we completed, as a family, in January 1994. The video is about 44 minutes long.

On January 4, 1994 we load up in Cusco with the crew who will guide, carry our equipment, and cook for us. As a hiker we will only need to be responsible for a day pack. The hike was four days. This is our last year in Peru and in June we will return to the United States. This was a farewell to Peru event. Our group leader is Silverio. We had hiked this trail in 1993 and Silverio was our cook at that time.

Our support crew for the 1993 hike were Mauro Huaman (Porter), Holger Davalos (Guide), Sirio Peña (Porter), and kneeling is Silverio Florez (cook). For the 1994 hike documented in the video above, Silverio was our guide and organizer. We will never forget these folks!

Video synopsis:  January 4 we shuttled from Cusco to Chillca, a small village that lies beside the Urubamba River in Peru about km 76 on the rail line. This is our starting point for the Inca Trail. The primary starting point is km 82 on the rail line. We added a few kilometers to experience the semi-desert area leading to the Wayllabamba Valley where we camped for the night at the ruins of Llaqtupata.
